Virgin On Top As Internet Broadcast Station

The UK’s Virgin Radio landed the worldwide top spot for being the most listened to commercial broadcast station on the web, says US internet research company, Arbitron.

Virgin Radio drew in a massive 357,199 hours of total listening time during the week from 22-28 March 2004. It was however, beaten to the overall top spot by US non-commercial station, MusicMatch, which drew in over 1 million total hours.

In the category of ‘Internet Broadcasters and Sales Networks’, Virgin landed the number five slot, with 615,636 hours for the same period. The top spot for this category was taken by the US commercial internet broadcaster, AOL Radio@Network which drew in nearly 5 million hours listening.
