US Television Revenues Rise By 0.8% In Q3

US television advertising revenues rose by 0.8% in the third quarter of the year, slipping back from Q2’s 5.1% rise (see US Television Revenues Nudge Up 2.1% In H1), according to the latest figures from the Television Advertising Bureau (TVB).

Within the total figure, network TV rose by 5.3%; syndicated TV by 17.8% and local broadcast TV fell by 6.3%. “Local broadcast television stations enjoyed a major influx of political dollars during the third quarter of 2002, so no one should be surprised that this year’s third quarter suffered in comparison,” explains TVB president Chris Rohrs.

In the calendar year-to-date, broadcast TV was up 1.7% in total. Network TV rose by 2.7%; syndicated TV by 16.4% and local broadcast TV was down 2.3%.
