The Athletic names WaPo’s Ginsberg first executive editor

The New York Times Company, which owns digital sports publication The Athletic, has named Steven Ginsberg as the outlet’s first executive editor.
Ginsberg joins The Athletic after 28 years at The Washington Post, where he was involved in seven Pulitzer Prize-winning projects. He served as managing editor for The Post‘s National, Metro, and Sports coverage.
A self-described “obsessive sports fan”, Ginsberg (who supports New York teams like the Yankees and the Giants) will officially start on 3 January.
