It is anticipated that Smartphone use across the world’s top 19 digital markets will double by 2015, reaching almost 72%.

Tablet use is expected to rise from last year’s figure of 5% to 13% in 2015, and the adoption in internet-connected televisions is predicted to increase by 2.4% to an overall figure of 9%.

The report published by ZenithOptimedia noted that the top countries adopting new media technology that year were Norway (65% use of Smartphones compared to the average of 44% in other countries), followed by France, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark. In 2015 it is predicted that Iceland and Canada will make the top 5, losing Sweden and Denmark.

The report further predicts that the Netherlands will move to the top spot in 2015 because of the country’s high adoption rate of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), ahead of both China and the USA.

The UK remains in 10th place in both 2012 and 2015.
