Simon Rees to step down as CEO at Digital Cinema Media

After four years as CEO, Simon Rees has announced that he will be leaving Digital Cinema Media (DCM) at the end of January in order to “pursue other interests both inside and outside of the media industry”.

Since joining in May 2011, Rees has spearheaded the introduction of a new digital delivery system for commercials and interactive capability through the mobile app Cinime.

“I’m really proud of the transformation we have been able to achieve for DCM and cinema advertising,” Rees said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

“I know I leave a business in great shape, with a talented young team, and well-placed for the future.”

Nigel Sharrocks, non-executive chairman at DCM, added: “On behalf of the board I would like to thank Simon for all his tremendous efforts on behalf of cinema advertising and in leading DCM. We wish him all the very best for the future.”

Karen Stacey, former head of broadcast sales at Bauer Media, has been appointed as interim CEO, starting in the New Year.
