Nielsen Media Research Increases Prices To Fund Increased TV Meters In US

As part of a long term plan to double the number of ‘people meter’ homes in the US, Nielsen is unveiling new prices to advertisers and media companies, according to the Wall Street Journal. Currently, Nielsen has 5,100 people meters in use monitoring TV viewing across the US, it plans to add several hundred more meters to this total in 10 cities within the next 3 years.

Nielsen hope that the benefits of the improved research provided by the meters will go some way to allay concerns from the media industry over increased costs.
