Interpublic media agency Mediahub has appointed Steve Taylor as UK head of strategy, following Nnamdi David’s departure to the company’s sister office in Los Angeles.

A frequent contributor for The Media Leader, Taylor is one of UK advertising’s most fervent champions of generalist media planning. His latest opinion piece argued for “the return of the planner-buyer”.

Taylor was most recently executive strategy director at VCCP Media, having been joint chief strategy officer before that. His role changed after VCCP Media appointed Will Parrish, who joined in January from sister agency Initiative alongside CEO James Shoreland.

Taylor is chair of technical judges at the IPA Effectiveness Awards and is credited by Mediahub for his deep involvement with “understanding and promoting the latest and best thinking globally on effectiveness”. Before VCCP Media, he was chief product officer at Omnicom’s Hearts & Science.

He said: “The depth of talent and the intensity of ambition at Mediahub make for an amazing platform to deliver outstanding media solutions, grounded in effectiveness-led strategic thinking. I’m delighted to be joining a team with a track record of crafting industry-challenging campaigns.”

Ross Jenkins, Mediahub’s EMEA and APAC CEO, added: “Clients want ambition, new ideas and braver thinking for an accelerated world. They want pilots to help fly their brands to greatness. Steve brings the vital piece of challenger strategic thinking to complement our unique mix of insight, media invention, data science and technology.”
