Media Rocks, the UK media industry charity event that sees media professionals square off in a battle-of-the-bands competition, is returning for its second concert.

The event is once again being organised by James Ullman, UK sales director at Smartly.io, who founded the event as a spin-off of Law Rocks events, which he had previously competed in.

The inaugural Media Rocks was hosted in September 2023 and raised £3,000, which was split among charities picked by the competing bands. LinkedIn (band name: LinkedIn Park) took home the top prize against VCCP (Goldie & the Bears) and Incubeta (The Incubeatles).

The second Media Rocks event will take place on 22 May and return to 100 Club on Oxford Street.

On the night, competing bands will each perform a handful of covers, with a panel of judges deciding the winner.

Entry costs £300 per band and they must sell 40 tickets at £25 each to qualify, with all proceeds going to the winning band’s chosen charity. Tickets will soon be live on Eventbrite.

Ullman told The Media Leader he hoped to “get more and more people involved so we can have a lot of fun and make a lot of money for charity”. He is looking to recruit more bands to join.
