Katie Vanneck-Smith becomes Hearst UK CEO

Hearst Magazines has appointed Katie Vanneck-Smith as Hearst UK CEO.

Vanneck-Smith will begin in the role on 1 December, taking over duties from Simon Horne who has been interim CEO of Hearst UK since James Wildman stepped down last year.

She joins Hearst from Tortoise Media, a global “slow news” media outlet which she co-founded in 2018.

She has previous roles as Dow Jones where she helped build The Wall Street Journal’s online membership-based business, as well as Telegraph Media Group and The Times where she created the news membership proposition Times+.

Vanneck-Smith will report in to Jonathan Wright, Hearst Magazines international president.
