Global promotes Oliver Deane to lead digital commercial team

Global’s Oliver Deane has been promoted to director of commercial digital, it has been announced.

In his new role Deane will be responsible for ad revenue and commercial operations for Global’s digital, mobile and social products across the company’s portfolio of brands including Capital, LBC, Radio X and PopBuzz.

Reporting directly to chief commercial officer Mike Gordon, Deane will sit on the senior leadership team of the commercial division and lead a team of 45 people.

“In the past two years, we’ve translated our success in audio to our digital platforms, transforming our digital publishing businesses and growing our audiences by a huge number,” Deane said.

“Our approach to video and social is in a league of its own. I’m looking forward to working with our brilliant people to deliver more great work for agencies and advertisers.”

Deane has been at Global for six years after joining from Clear Channel where he was agency group head. For the past three years, he has led sales for DAX, the UK’s first programmatic audio platform.

Deane will also lead sales and commercial operations for Global’s digital publishing business, which delivers around 100 million video streams a month.

Commenting on the appointment, Gordon said: “Ollie has played a pivotal role in growing our digital commercial business over the past two years. Under his leadership our digital commercial teams have won a plethora of industry awards cementing our seat at the top table among digital publishers.

“Alongside that, Ollie has helped create arguably the world’s most advanced and sophisticated digital audio advertising platform in DAX.”
