Alex Zane New Xfm London Breakfast DJ

Alex Zane Alex Zane is set to replace Lauren Laverne as Xfm London’s breakfast show host, in a series of moves at the GCap station.

The Popworld presenter, who has been at Xfm on and off since 2003, started presenting Xfm London’s Friday breakfast show at the beginning of January ((see Alex Zane To Present XFM Friday Breakfast Show) but will take over the full Monday-Friday remit on 29th May.

In addition, Ian Camfield is to replace Richard Bacon in the drivetime slot while Claire Sturgess will temporarily take over the mid-morning slot, previously held by Camfield, until a permanent replacement is found.

Xfm London’s programme director, Adam Uytman, said: “We are really excited to be getting Alex five days a week. His Friday breakfast show has received a great response from the listeners and he was our first choice for the position.”

Alex Zane added: “When my name came out of the tombola I was thrilled, and playing great music to London’s best listeners five days a week in some way makes up for missing out on that first prize of an alarm clock kettle.”

At the last RAJAR release, Xfm London’s mid-week breakfast show achieved a weekly reach of 270,000 listeners, down 4.6% on the previous quarter.
