WPP to restructure Kinetic as MacCallum exits as CEO

Ali MacCallum has left his role of UK CEO at Kinetic Worldwide.

MacCallum had held the role at the WPP-owned global specialist outdoor agency since 2019 until he exited the role last week.

The Media Leader understands there is no plan to replace the UK CEO position, and that this is part of a wider restructure to integrate Kinetic into WPP’s media investment arm GroupM.

When asked, GroupM declined to share further context around the restructure or potential replacement.

In November 2022, Kinetic’s global CEO Keith Kaplan also left the agency.

A spokesperson for GroupM said: “We wish Ali all the best in his next venture and thank him for leading Kinetic UK, during which time we were awarded twice with OOH agency of the year alongside many more awards, for the great work on behalf of our clients.”

Prior to his position at Kinetic Worldwide, MacCallum was CEO at m/SIX (a joint venture between The&Partnership and WPP) and before that, CEO of the now-dissolved Omnicom media agency M2M.

He has also held senior leadership positions at CDP Media (joint venture between WPP agency CIA UK and Dentsu) and Zenith Media (now Publicis agency Zenith).

MacCallum has been chair of the IPA Outdoor Group, a board member of Route Research and Employ Autism.
