The Times Magazine editor, Nick Wapshott, has confirmed to MediaTel his involvement with the ‘Radio Greater London’ consortium, which will be applying for one of the London FM licences on June 8 (Newsline 20/5).
Wapshott described the consortium’s bid as an attempt to “privatise GLR.” Their proposed format of “intelligent talk” combined with music, would be aimed at ABC1s.
The other members of the consortium are being kept under wraps for the moment, as most are employed by existing stations.
