Uncut Records Second Successive Period Of Growth Over 20%

The undoubted highlight, from the latest Film & Cinema ABCs, is the continued rise of IPC’s Uncut magazine. For the second successive period (see Newsline) it has recorded a rise of over 20% in total average net sales. Uncut‘s latest figure (Jan-Jun ’99) represents a 23.4% increase year-on-year. Market leader, Empire retains an authoritative hold on this sector, despite falling 3.1% (Jul97-Dec97 – Jul98-Dec98) and 8.9% this time.

In the TV listings market the leader, Skyview, fell 15.2% from its Jan-Jun 1998 figure. Cable Guide, however, continues to perform well, up 6.2% period-on-period. This follows a 47.8% rise in circulation, July-Dec98 (see Newsline).

Whilst the total TV Listings sector is up 8%, year-on-year, it is actually down 1.9% on the Jul-Dec 1998 total of 7,341,457.
