Uncut Continues To Grow In Film Sector

IPC’s Uncut continues to outperform it rivals in the film magazine sector. For the third successive period the title has recorded a rise of over 20% in total average net sales – up 25% year on year for the July to December 1999 period. The new market leader is Inside Film, which releases its first six monthly circulation figure here, pushing up the whole sector’s year on year circulation figures by 207%.

EMAP’s position as market leader has been usurped by Inside Film, whose title of the same name takes over the mantle from Empire.

In the TV listing market, Skyview just holds onto its position as sector leader despite dropping 32.5% in its year on year circulation total. Skyview‘s closest rival is Cable Guide, which is the only magazine in the sector to record a year on year increase (11.1%). The latest circulation figures show that Cable Guide has narrowed the gap between itself and Skyview, with average net sales total of 2,299,295 and 2,067,752 respectively.

There is good news for EMAP Metro’s Heat, which underwent a revamp in the middle of last year following poor sales (see New Look For Heat Magazine), as circulation figures for the title have increased. July to December figures show that Heat had a circulation figures of 72,510, up from 65,522 for January to June 1999. This brings the title closer to EMAP Metro’s inital target run of 100,000 when it launched in February of last year (see First Issue Review – Heat).

Redwood maintains it position as market leader in the TV listings sector taking a third of sales, comfortably ahead of second placed Cable Guide which has a market share of 19%.
