Plans to encrypt UK Gold, as discussed on its launch in November, are not currently an issue, a spokeswoman for the channel told MediaTel this morning. Forecasts and projections made before the launch are fulfilling expections she claims, but converting the archive station to subscription is not high priority.
Having just released details of its June schedule that concentrates heavily on Saturday and Sunday night viewing, the channel is currently competing strongly with satellite rivals, BSkyB, whose plans for encryption are in the pipeline for October.
