Yorkshire-Tyne Tees Television has been cleared by the ITC of merging the Tyne Tees operation into Yorkshire TV at the expense of the channel’s autonomy. Complaints by Ann Clwyd, the shadow heritage secretary led to the commissions’investigation (News – 19/4) on the basis that Tyne Tees had a separate regional franchise and should keep its separate identity.
The ITC says it is happy with the business and commissioning structures curently used but will continue to monitor the performance of the company.
