Twitter ‘cuts contract workers’ amid reports of Omnicom, GroupM concern
In brief

Twitter has reportedly let go of a large number of contract workers without warning.

An estimated 4,400-5,500 contract employees were suddenly terminated, accordung to newsletter Platformer. Twitter previously cut half its staff, allegedly without enough notice.

The cuts come as more advertisers are believed to have paused spend on the platform. Per an internal memo seen by Reuters, Omnicom joined other major media holding companies, such as IPG, in recommending that clients pause their spending on Twitter in the short term.

WPP’s media buying agency GroupM has similarly begun telling clients Twitter is now a “high risk” media buy.
