Revenue

Revenue for terrestrial television channels slipped 2.6% during February. The largest fall came from GMTV which was down 15% in a year on year analysis, while the ITV network overall fell 5.8%.

Channel 4 increased its revenue by 8.2%, while Channel 5 remained steady at £15.6m. Revenue for satellite channels continues to increase, adding 16% to its monthly figure.

ITV franchises in the South and London showed healthy increases to their monthly revenue share during February. Meridian was up 0.6 percentage points and now commands a 12% share of all ITV revenue. Carlton retained its position at the top of the table, adding 0.4% points to its share.

On the decline were Central, Granada, HTV and West Country, which all lost 0.3% points from their revenue share.

Costs Per Thousand

The ITV network saw costs per thousand fall across all categories during February, with ABC1 Adults down 8.7%. Channel 4, meanwhile, saw significant increases to its costs; the price of reaching women on the channel rose 17.6% during the month.

Channel 5 was also on the up, with all categories except Housewives showing increases.

Commercial Impacts

Commercial impacts across terrestrial channels took a tumble during February. C4 was the greatest casualty, with all categories showing decreases.

ITV made slight increases across audiences of Men, Housewives with Children and ABC1 Adults, while Channel 5 saw increases in just one category, Housewives. Satellite continued to rise with ABC1 Adults showing the greatest increase, up 17.9% to 3,891.
