Sunday Times Launches New Motoring Section

The Sunday Times is to launch a new stand-alone motoring supplement called Driving as part of its September relaunch (see Sunday Times Plans September Relaunch For Style).

The new supplement will replace the existing Motoring section, which appeared in the back of the paper’s current sports section, and is to be edited by Nick Gardner. It is one of a number of additions to the new look Sunday Times, which will also include a new version of the existing Style magazine and an extended sports section.

The new titles’ 32-pages will include features from Jeremy Clarkson and will have a greater focus on lifestyle issues, which affect drivers such as buying or selling a car. According to John Witherow, editor of the Sunday Times, the new title: “Will be a guide to buying, selling and dreaming about the most desirable cars in Britain.”

The latest ABC results for the February to July 2002 period show that the Sunday Times increased circulation by 2.5% to 1,405,471 up from 1,370,875 in the same period in 2001.
