Sunak ‘plans to stop Channel 4 privatisation’
In brief

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is reportedly set to confirm that the Government will halt plans to privatise Channel 4 as expected.

The Financial Times reported that the Prime Minister’s office had “signalled the decision” to stop the privatisation of the public-service broadcaster while in the process of reviewing campaign and manifesto promises and upcoming legislation.

After being first appointed by former Prime Minister Liz Truss, Culture Secretary Michelle Donelan said she would “reexamine the business case” for the privatisation.
