Gordon Ramsay It was Channel 4’s turn to outshine its terrestrial rivals last night, gaining respectable viewing figures for its property and reality shows.

Grand Designs Revisited did well for the channel between 9pm and 10pm, with more than 3.8 million adults on average (17.5%) tuning in to see how a tenacious couple had got on with their remarkable barn conversion five years on, making the programme the most watched in the timeslot.

ITV1’s new X Factor drama, Rock Rivals, could not compete with the affable Kevin McCloud, however, with an audience of 2.6 million between 9pm and 10pm. The Rock on BBC One was seem by almost 2.8 million in the timeslot, a 12.8% share.

Earlier, a new episode of Relocation, Relocation, with this week’s couple proving a challenge for the indefatigable Kirstie and Phil, drew over 3.3 million adults to C4, equating to a 15.6% viewing share.

BBC One’s Sky Cops gained over 3.2 million (15.2%) at the same time, whilst The Bill on ITV1 proper popular with an average adult audience of almost five million (23.3%).

Channel 4 had further success with Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA. Ever the predictable format, Gordon’s attempts to get a confused eatery in NYC back on track still provided a generous helping of horror and entertainment to almost 3.2 million (18.3%) between 10pm and 11pm.
