Business Influence

The Business Influence question is asked of all full and part-time workers. In Quarter 4 it was expanded to form two questions; the first established the size of respondents’ purchasing power, whereas the second ascertained the specific areas in which they had influence in purchasing decisions.

Digital Television

The Digital Television question was revised in Quarter 4 2003 to include an option for a “TV set with Digital built in (iDTV)”.

Respondents with a TV were asked “Through which of the following ways do you receive Digital TV” and were able to select from the following responses:

Digital TV via Satellite (i.e. Sky Digital) Digital TV via cable Digital TV via Freeview TV set with Digital built in (iDTV) I do not receive any Digital TV services

Changes for Q1 2004

From Quarter 1, 2004 there will be a number of changes to the fieldwork materials used by RAJAR. These will include collecting information on the frequency of listening to radio via mobile phone as well as establishing access to digital platforms during the recruitment interview.

For the first time, ownership of DAB Digital Radio sets will be collected. Given the continued rapid adoption of digital platforms in a relatively immature marketplace, it is RAJAR’s objective to ensure that digital radio listening claims are validated insofar as this is possible. The new questions will form a key part in this.

It is not possible to implement this validation based on the current documentation since platform details are only collected on a voluntary basis within the diary and are not probed by an interviewer.
