RAJAR Results Q2 2005:Capital Regains Top Spot In London

Radio Set The latest RAJAR figures for the three months to June show Capital 95.8 regaining the top spot in London whilst maintaining its share of listening at 6.1%

The increase sees the GCap-owned station reclaim its position ahead of Chrysalis’ Heart 106.2, which despite making a surprise entry as London’s top station in terms of listening share during the first quarter of the year, has now slipped to third place behind Magic 105.4 (see RAJAR Results Q1 2005: Capital Ahead On Reach But Heart Moves Infront With Hours RAJAR Results Q1 2005: Capital Ahead On Reach But Heart Moves Infront With Hours ).

The latest data also sees Capital retain its leading position in terms of weekly reach, with a total of 1.94 million despite an 8.01% decline period on period.

Heart’s slip of 2% points in share of listening has given Emap’s Magic 105.4 the chance to move from fourth position last year to second in terms of both weekly reach and listening share, despite dips of 2.9% and 0.9% points in each.

Heart’s weekly reach has also been reduced period on period, shedding 10.69% despite a massive £2 million promotional push to mark its new breakfast show with Jamie Theakston (see Heart Starts £2 Million Plug For Breakfast Show).
