Paramount+ makes Barb TV audience debut

Paramount+, the streaming service launched by Channel 5 owner Paramount in the UK last summer, has appeared on Barb’s quarterly TV audience measurement survey for the first time.

The streaming service is being taken up 6% of UK households between April and June 2023, according to the latest Barb Establishment Survey released today. These figures refer to how many people have a subscription to Paramount+, as opposed to how much they are watching it.

That compares to 57% for Netflix (down from 59%) in the first quarter of 2023, 44% for Amazon Prime Video (down from 45%), and 25% for Disney+ (slightly up but by less than 1 percentage point).

Overall, Barb’s data shows that just under two-thirds (66%) of UK households had access to a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in Q2 2023.

SVOD services with a household penetration of more than 5% are reported.
