Nielsen ‘set to lay off staff’

Nielsen ‘set to lay off staff’
In brief

Nielsen has signalled to its employees that the company intends to reduce its workforce.

According to a report from Axios citing an internal memo, the market measurement company is aiming to align its global headcount with where it was one year ago.

It follows reportedly expanded hiring practices in 2021 that were done “to keep pace with the higher-than-normal attrition rates in the first half of the year and for a number of product and international expansion opportunities”.

The memo cited a changing macroeconomic environment as the reason for the change.

The move comes following Nielsen’s sale to private equity last year.
