COX REFUTES DYKE’S ARGUMENT

Majority shareholder in UK Gold, Cox Communications has issued a reponse to ITV’s comments on the future of the BBC which suggested that the company should not have any part in commercial ventures such as the archive channel. “It is hard to ignore the possibility that ITV’s views do not reflect what is in the best interests of the TV viewers in the UK because they are clouded by its concern about UK Gold as a competitor in the advertising air-time market….programming services like UK Gold will in effect expand the market for advertising air-time by providing more options to advertisers”.
