The Radio Authority confirmed to MediaTel today that at least 2 new FM licences will be advertised for the London area in 1996.

The band between 105 and 108 FM will become free in January 1996, this will provide frequencies for a minimum of 2 new stations.

GLR CONSORTIUM TO BID FOR ILR LICENCE

A consortium comprising a breakaway group from the BBC’s GLR is thought to be planning a bid for one of the 8 London franchises up for grabs this year. ‘Radio Greater London’ will propose a format based on a mix of talk and music.
