The ABC figures for March-August reveal that among the daily broadsheets the Financial Times recorded the largest year on year growth, with an increase of 6%. The Daily Telegraph remains the biggest selling quality daily, with a circulation of 1.112 million while the Times and the Guardian both had respectable growth rates of 5.2% and 3.1% respectively. In the quality Sunday market the Sunday Times‘s dominance grew by 1% to 1.304 million.

Both of the Express titles failed to find any year on year growth, with the Express down 0.5% and the Express On Sunday down 6.1%. This is in contrast to the Daily Mail which grew 5% to 2.173 million and the Mail On Sunday where sales rose by 2.7% to 2.145 million.

Once again the popular market revealed itself to be in decline. Among the dailies, the Mirror had the largest drop, down 4% while the Sun fell 3.8% to 3.866 million. The Daily Star had the smallest drop in sales in the market, with a fall of 2.3%. The News of the World fell 2.8% to 4.409 million, while its two competitors both experienced sales losses of 6.5%.
