Month On Month

Monthly national newspaper circulation figures for April, released by the ABC this week, showed a overall drop in sales of 1%. Sunday Sport saw the greatest fall in circulation, down by over 6% in a month on month analysis, while Sport First shed a further 6% over the same period.

Only six titles showed an increase in circulation, the most significant from the two Express titles. The Sunday Express was up 4.5% in a month on month analysis, while the circulation base of the Daily Express grew by almost 4%.

Quality Market

The Times again saw the most significant fall among the broadsheets in a year-on-year analysis, with sales down 3.3%. The Sunday Business again increased its sales dramatically, adding almost 30% to its circulation base, and the Financial Times climbed almost 19% since last year.

Mid Market

The mid market dropped slightly in a year-on-year analysis with the Daily Express and Sunday Express falling by 4% and 2.7% respectively. The Daily Mail, however, added 25,000 sales to its circulation base.

Popular Market

The popular market fell by almost 4% in a year-on-year analysis, with all daily titles showing a drop in sales. the most significant falls came from the Daily Record – down 7.6% – the Sunday People, down 6.6%.
