LWT Deal Throws MAS Into Confusion

The future of Media & Airtime Sales has been thrust into confusion following yesterday’s announcement that LWT is to take a major shareholding in Yorkshire Tyne Tees Holdings as well as handling its airtime sales.

Speaking to MediaTel this morning, Judith Rhodes of MAS was unable to shed any light on future dealings for the sales house, whether it will remain as Media & Airtime Sales and whether there will be any redundancies. John Quinn at Radio Sales – the radio arm of MAS – claims they will continue to represent Atlantic 252, and that business will proceed as normal. A decision over the future of the company is due to be taken before the end of the week when an official announcement will be made.

Sources within London Weekend Television confirm that the research arms of LWT and Yorkshire Tyne Tees will merge following yesterday’s news, a move that may also lead to a number of redundancies.
