ILR Awards & Re-Advertisements

The Radio Authority has awarded the ILR licence for High Wycombe to Radio Wye. The licence is for a service on the AM band with the exact size of population to be served being determined by the transmission site chosen by Radio Wye. The new station is due to begin broadcasting later this year.

The local licence for Pembrokeshire, for which the only applicant was Haven Radio, will not be awarded. The Radio Authority decided against awarding the licence because it felt the applicant did not meet the requirements of the Broadcasting Act. Four more of the existing ILR licences, covering Coventry, Dundee and Perth, have been re-advertised. The FM and AM wavebands for Coventry are currently held by Mercia FM/Extra AM and the FM and AM wavebands for Perth and Dundee are currently held by Radio Tay . The closing date for applications for all four licences is April 6.
