Grade Speaks Out On Sex & Violence

Chief executive of Channel 4, Michael Grade, spoke out last night about the amount of sex and violence shown on satellite channels like BSkyB, claiming they are given a much freer hand than terrestrial stations when it comes to freedom of programme choice.

Grade comments, “If satellite television is allowed to do just as it likes, it will inevitably drag the rest of the system down”.

In a statement released after his speech BSkyB stated that Grade knows Sky, Channel 4 and ITV are regulated by the same bodies and therefore face the same penalties for breach of standards.
