EMAP Closes Kiss TV

Kiss TV, the youth music programme on Granada Sky Broadcasting, will cease broadcasting at the end of the month. This is to allow Emap, which owns the strand, to concentrate on the launch of Magic, a cable and satellite music channel (subscribers see Box To Launch Sister Channel).

Kiss TV, which currently broadcasts for one hour each night, was EMAP’s first venture onto TV before acquiring the Box in 1996.

Tim Schoonmaker, chief executive at EMAP Radio, comments: “Now Kiss has come to the end of its series, we will concentrate on the launch of Magic in Spring ’98. Kiss is one of the strongest youth brands in the UK and we are looking at new ways to use it via television on the future.”
