Year on year analysis of the latest BARB digital viewing figures reveals that non-terrestrial channels continue to increase their command of viewing share in all homes. The others category rose from 17.1% average weekly share in July 2000 to a 20% share in July 2001. ITV saw the most significant loss in terms of share throughout the month dropping from 28.5% to 25.8% year on year. BBC2 followed close behind with share slipping from 11.3% to 10.5% year on year.

In digital homes terrestrial channels BBC1 saw share rise from 17.2% to 19% year on year. Channel 4 was close behind with share climbing from 5.9% in July 2000 to 7.55% in July 2001.

Comparison between Sky Digital and ITV Digital homes reveals that terrestrial channels command a greater share of viewing in ITV Digital homes than in Sky homes, while non-terrestrial channels continue to attract a greater share of viewing in Sky homes.
