Dennis publishes last Computer Buyer magazine

Dennis Publishing Logo Dennis Publishing is set to close its monthly Computer Buyer title after 18 years in order to focus on its Computer Shopper magazine.

The March issue of Computer Buyer will be the last copy of the magazine to hit the shelves – the title has seen its circulation decline significantly over the past few years, down to an average of 9,477 copies per month in 2007 according to ABC data.

During the same 2007 period, Computer Shopper recorded a monthly average circulation of more than 68,000 copies.

John Garewal, deputy managing director of Dennis, said: “The market has evolved. Computer Buyer catered for non-technical people buying pieces of technology. Its close rival in that market is Computer Shopper, which is also owned by us.

“It makes sense to concentrate on that magazine which is the market leader,” he added.

Garewal confirmed that the title’s closure will not result in any job losses – he said: “We have made a couple of acquisitions recently and with the expansion of our other brands we are keeping hold of key people. So, happily, there are no redundancies.”
