Clear Channel offers targeted ads around Ashes series

Clear Channel Site Clear Channel Outdoor is set to offer targeted advertising opportunities around the forthcoming Ashes cricket series.

The outdoor firm has identified ad solutions from June 15 to help agencies take advantage of the cricket series, which attracted over 400,000 spectators the last time it took place over in the UK over the summer of 2005.

Clear Channel has picked more than 100 panels for advertisers to reach sports fans, including Connect phone boxes, 48-sheets, 96-sheets and digital roadside LED 48-sheets close to where the games will be played.

The digital sheets enable clients to broadcast highly targeted messages, which will include congratulations messages on the screen at Vauxhall Cross, which is close to The Oval, immediately after the matches.

The 10 digital screens across London can also be used to update consumers on play, using RSS feeds and a schedule of different text depending on the time of day.

Clear Channel’s mobile offering will allow advertisers to target consumers through a branded cricket match – fans can text a keyword and then receive a link to download a game that has a mobile site with videos, live content and sport reports.

Richard Bon, head of support and planning, said Clear Channel’s outdoor advertising opportunities will enable clients to take to their target audience in the lead-up to the Test matches and during the Ashes series in a relevant, targeted way that can create great resonance for brands.

The Ashes is due to kick-start in Cardiff on July 8, while the final Fifth Test will be played in London on August 20.

In 2005, around 7.4 million tuned in to see the final Ashes match on Channel 4.
