BMRC 1993 Survey Results Released

The eleventh in a series of reports from the Business Media Research Committee is being released today , giving detailed media and marketing data about the British business man and woman.

The survey was carried out by Research Services Ltd using a three stage probability sample, screening 2,699 businessmen representing an estimated universe of 1,209,000 businessmen in Great Britain.

In the study a business- man is defined as: “a man or woman of middle or higher management status whose occupation implies the exercise of significant business responsibilities”.

Conclusions drawn from the survey’s methodology and results include;

  • The use of the Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing technique significantly inproved responses given by interviewees
  • The British Business Survey Indentifies Decision Makers
  • 69% of business women are educated to degree standard
  • 63% of businessmen claim not to have taken an air trip abroad for business purposes in the past 12 months
  • Only 8% of business men do not have access to a computer facility
  • Businessmens’ favourite quality paper is the Daily Telegraph (16.9%), followed by the Financial Times (16.2%)
  • Amongst tabloid newspapers 17.3% read the Daily Mail.
  • Senior Public Sector Businessmen choose the Guardian as their daily paper
