ABC Results Jan-Jun 2007:Official Nintendo Magazine Records Largest Increase in Gaming Sector
The biggest real term increase in the gaming and computer sector was enjoyed by Official Nintendo Magazine, which grew by almost 12,500 copies year on year, a percentage increase of nearly 35%, taking its total to more than 47,900.
There was also a healthy rise for Future Publishing’s Xbox publications. Xbox World 360 went up by 31% year on year, to give it a circulation of almost 30,300, whilst X360 grew by nearly 40% year on year, taking its total to just under 30,200 and mirroring the rise in popularity of the Microsoft console it covers.
The sector’s biggest losses came for Official Playstation 2 Magazine, PSW (formerly Playstation World) and PSM3.
Official Playstation 2 Magazine was down more than 55,900 copies year on year to under 44,200. Meanwhile, following the launch of the new PS3 console, PSW and PSM3 reported declines of more than 17,300 and almost 11,900 respectively.
It was a mixed bag in the computer magazine sector with Mac Format up by almost 15% year on year to more than 21,400 copies, whilst PC Format was down by around 7% year on year, leaving its circulation at over 28,300.
