3 ridiculously absurd/surreal predictions for 2012

2012 - The Year Ahead

Following on from our Newsline bulletin Year Ahead piece today, Jim Marshall says “it’s all very unpredictable this year – therefore (and in keeping with the extraordinary events of last year, such as the News of the World closing) here are my three predictions…

1 – The News of the World will be re-launched as a joint venture between News Group and the UK Government as a free newspaper.

A great example of the Big Society working, particularly as the newspaper will be edited by prison inmates. (Though in fairness they will all have been recently convicted and will all have previous journalistic experience.)

2 – The Eurozone will encounter further economic problems but Google will bale out the EEC by buying Spain and Italy.

Consequently the Euro will be re-branded the Euro Google. The UK will oppose the deal and David Cameron will try to do something separately with Facebook. The deal falls down because Clegg takes exception to Mark Zuckenberg’s face appearing on UK currency.

3 – England will win the European Championship.
