Wavemaker UK has appointed Elliott Millard as its new head of planning, poaching him from rival OMD.
Millard has close to two decades’ experience in the media industry, including eight years in senior positions at Publicis’ Starcom and, most recently, a year as group managing partner at Omnicom’s OMD EMEA.
He has particular experience in the technology, automotive and retail sectors, and has worked on clients including Lidl, Kraft Heinz, Fiat Chrysler and Uber.
In his new role, Millard will be responsible for developing long-term business and communication strategies for key clients, as well as driving Wavemaker’s planning product and leading planning for new business prospects.
“I’m relishing the opportunity to work with the talented Wavemaker team and help grow the current client portfolio while maximising the growth potential for existing clients,” he said.
“The media industry is going through a period of unprecedented transformation and opportunity. I look forward to leading and developing a dynamic and growing team that is at the forefront of it.”
Millard, who will be based in London, will lead a team of 65 planners and report into chief strategy officer Verra Budimlija.
Commenting on the appointment, Budimlija added: “Elliott is an experienced planning and strategy leader who further strengthens our senior team with craft skills, provocative thinking and great leadership skills.
“His strategic expertise will help us continue to deliver outstanding growth for our clients and build the agency of the future.”
