Sarah Baumann, managing director of VaynerMedia, has left the agency after three years in the role.
The Media Leader understands Baumann has left without a job to go to and has done so for personal reasons.
Prior to VaynerMedia she worked at Leo Burnett Group UK for nearly 17 years, moving from board account director to deputy CEO, and has also held roles at People’s Vote UK, Howsy and Wunderman Thompson.
Baumann has been an advocate for more women in media leadership positions. In 2020 she wrote in this publication how women are “more grounded and involved in day-to-day life”.
“When women lead an organisation, the tone and dynamic within it does change; in my experience, that involves a more expansive mindset,” Baumann wrote in 2020. “They cut through the crap and create the environment for more diverse teams to innovate, pursue their ideas and thrive.”
A spokesperson for VaynerMedia said it does have a plan for who will be moving into the role which is confidential until next week.
VaynerMedia is an independent full-service agency that offers strategy, creative, media and production services.
