Record England Euros win attracts 4m peak audience

England’s second match in the UEFA Women’s Euros attracted an average of 3.29 million viewers last night, according to overnight BARB figures.

The match between England and Norway, which kicked off at 8pm, gained a peak audience on BBC One of 4.06 million at 9.45pm along with the highest share of viewing for the timeslot with a 22.9% share of viewing.

This marked an increase on the team’s first match last week against Austria which netted an average audience of 2.69 million viewers, a peak audience of 3.69 million at 9.45pm and a 17.9% share of viewing for the timeslot.

A crowd of 28,847 attended the match at the Brighton & Hove Community Stadium which ranked as the fourth-highest attendance for a Women’s European Championships game.

The UEFA Women’s Euros tournament lasts for 25 days and will be shown live on the BBC, but viewing data on BBC iPlayer and other devices is not yet available for this match.

The Lionesses beat Norway 8-0, marking the biggest win in Women’s Euros history, and will proceed to the quarter-finals after playing Northern Ireland in Southampton on Friday.
