Love Island attracts average audience of more than 3m so far

ITV2’s Love Island series 8 has so far attracted an average consolidated audience of 3.08 million, according to BARB data produced by Mediatel Connected.

This beats average consolidated viewing figures for all completed previous series, including the most successful series in 2019 which recorded an average consolidated audience of 2.32 million for the whole eight weeks of the programme.

Consolidated viewing data for the first three weeks of the eight-week series this year show the most-viewed episode was the launch episode of the series shown on 6 June which racked up 3.90 million viewers.

The least viewed-episode, not including highlight or spinoff episodes, was broadcast on 11 June with 953,500 consolidated viewers.

Consolidated programme viewing figures take in to account live viewing and any catch-up viewing via TV set within seven days of the original broadcast, including viewing on same day as live (VOSDAL).

The three weekly “after party” episodes, Love Island: Aftersun, had the lowest consolidated viewing figures of the series with 691,200, 707,500 and 803,300 viewers a piece on 19 June, 12 June, and 26 June, respectively.

According to figures from ITV, Love Island‘s 7 June Casa Amor recoupling episode netted its largest overnight audience since the 2019 final with a total audience of 3.9 million across all devices.

The episode was viewed by a TV audience of 3.0 million viewers and was up on the equivalent episode last year by 0.8 million TV viewers.

ITV reported the show gained the highest share of audience in the timeslot and was the most watched programme of the day for 16-34s, with 1.3 million 16-34 TV viewers. Such figures made it the most watched 16-34 programme on a digital channel so far this year, according to ITV.

Additionally, ITV stated Love Island has beaten all SVOD programmes so far this year for both all individuals and 16-34s based on viewing on the day of release (overnight like-for-like).

The “aftermath” of the recoupling continues on tonight’s show at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
