In brief

February total box office revenue totalled £78.5m, 6% lower than February of last year.

However, boosted by impressive showings for films like Avatar: The Way of Water, year-to-date box office revenue is up 3% from the year prior. The Avatar sequel’s lifetime UK total now sits above The Lion King and behind Titanic at 11th all-time.

DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which earned £20.9m since its debut at the beginning of the month, topped the charts. Coming in second for February is Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which debuted with a year-high £8.8m opening weekend.
