The Walt Disney Company has named former Nike CEO Mark Parker as its new chairman.
He replaces Susan Arnold, whose term limit on the board is expiring. Arnold was elected in December 2021 as Disney’s first female chair.
Parker has been a board member since 2016. He takes the helm amid an uncertain time for the company following the ousting of Bob Chapek and return of Bob Iger as CEO in November of last year.
In addition, Disney’s board fought off an attempt by activist investor group Trian Partners, led by Nelson Peltz, to obtain a board seat.
