Consumer ABCs August 2021: Womens Lifestyle

A strong digital performance has boosted Grazia‘s circulation figures, with gains compared to the previous six months and the same period last year.

The Bauer Media title has reported a 0.9% increase period on period and 6.6% gain year on year in combined print and digital circulation, to over 86,000.

However, most titles in the Women’s Lifestyle sector have shifted to a yearly reporting pattern. This means only three titles are reporting six-monthly figures for this release.

Free magazine Stylist has recovered slightly year on year to maintain over 400,000 editions.

This is likely bolstered by more people picking up the magazine as commutes slowly begin again post lockdowns and an ever-increasing number of Covid-19 vaccinations.

Nicola Gummer, Journey Activation Print Director at Wavemaker UK, told Mediatel News: “Sales in travel points have been challenged and new routes to market for face-to-face, free, distribution have been difficult to execute.

“Some publishers, such as ESI and Stylist, executed agile and targeted door drops. With significant restrictions in on-street distribution, as a freemium title, Stylist also pivoted quickly to distribute with Ocado shoppers and also converted a small proportion of readers to paid subscribers.”
