CNN launches ‘Guns in America’ beat

CNN launches ‘Guns in America’ beat
In brief

CNN has created a new beat to dissect the complex and divisive issues surrounding gun rights and gun violence in America, including on who buys and sells guns, who makes and regulates them, and how communities are impacted.

The ‘Guns in America’ beat will be led by CNN guns and security correspondent Josh Campbell, who won an Emmy in 2021 for reporting on the murder of George Floyd.

Additional reporting and analysis will come from The Reload founder Stephen Gutowski, nonprofit The Trace’s Jennifer Mascia, and Abené Clayton, reporter on the The Guardian’s “Guns and Lies in America” project.
